As an undergraduate student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, I was fortunate to work for three different UNL areas: Information Services (New Media Center), the Department of Chemistry, and the College of Business Administration. I rediscovered my passion for web design while working at the New Media Center and took things to the next level working for the Department of Chemistry and College of Business Administration.
As a student worker with the UNL Department of Chemistry, I consulted with faculty and staff members to promote the department. I redesigned and overhauled the department website with the use of the UNL Content Management System and used WordPress to create select faculty group pages.
I enhanced the web and social media experience for users wanting to learn more about the Department of Chemistry. I also assisted with the creation of social media posts for Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
Web: Chemistry Resource Center
I designed the Chemistry Resource Center page based on the format of the department website. I worked with the Chemistry Resource Center staff to develop content for the page. This page averaged 300 unique page views per month.
Web: Faculty Profile Pages
I designed the faculty profile page layout for use with all Department of Chemistry faculty. I assisted faculty members in making updates, changes, and corrections to their profile pages. Most faculty profile pages averaged between 100 to 500 unique page views per month.
Graphic Design: Print Projects
I worked in collaboration with department staff and faculty to create these print pieces:
As a student worker with the UNL College of Business Administration, I was part of the Student Marketing Advisory Resource Team (SMART). I assisted the Communications, Marketing and External Relations Office with various projects and brainstorming efforts to effectively promote the college. I spent most of my time creatively designing promotional materials for digital signage, print and web.
